when they have a computer problem? Most likely, you already have many
marketable skills you will need to become a computer consultant.
Don't think you have to be an expert in every portion and
every detail of all aspects of using and repairing a computer. That is not

yet you have a client that needs programming. You simply contact a
computer programmer, negotiate fees, and have the work completed.

business. A computer consultant business is no different. You need a
registered company name with city and state, business cards, a phone, a
computer, and most definitely a website. A computer consultant without a
website is unthinkable.
Establish your rates. A bit of research in the area may be
helpful. Depending on location and existing markets, the rates for a
computer consultant vary widely. A word of caution; don't under price your
knowledge and your services.
Begin handing out your cards to everyone. Talk, talk,
talk, word of mouth is one of the best ways to advertise. Once you
establish a few customers, and they begin to tell others, you are well on
your way to earning excellent income as a computer consultant.
Track Your Progress
The best way to start out as a computer consultant is to
set goals and have a plan of action. As you acquire a few customers, and
begin keeping records of transactions and services provided, you can begin
to track your progress and evaluate where changes may be necessary.
