Name Recognition
In some industries, this is a very necessary requirement.
Those who have services or products going to the home consumer is one such
area. For those people, name recognition becomes very important.
You say fast food and McDonald's wants to be the first
place you think of. For computer consultant marketing the strategy should
be very different.
Consider Your Niche Carefully
You should consider very carefully the niche for which you
want to target your computer consultant marketing. Let's consider two
different companies. One company has approximately fifty computers within
their system. The other is a small operation with only seven
machines.
Regardless of the type of consulting you do, the time and
money required to go after each of these companies is very much the same.
You may spend 10 hours going after each of these two potential customers.
That's 20 hours that you didn't bill.
Targeting Your Market
Next, consider the amount of billable hours you expect to
receive from each of these customers over the term of the business
relationship. In general, a 3 to 5 year term can be anticipated. If your
invested time is more than your anticipated income then you are chasing
the wrong customers.
Choosing only those potential clients that will provide
the most income above the hours you spend will provide you with a much
more targeted market. By carefully evaluating the potentials of each
prospect to which you target your computer consultant marketing you can
save much time and insure that all your clients are profitable.
