Computer hardware is about logic, not emotions. Sales are
made, and contracts are signed based upon emotion, not the logic of the
fact that you as a computer hardware consultant will provide solutions for
their technical needs.
Listen to Your Clients Needs
Think about it this way- if you don't convey
professionalism, knowledge, and a sincere interest in the potential
clients needs, the potential client will call someone else to provide the
services. A potential client will not contract you as a computer hardware
consultant, if trust is not established during the first contact.
Building this trust and establishing long term clients to
provide your computer hardware consultant services can be more logical
than you might think. The emotions of making the sale can be approached in
the same logical manner by which you might attempt to resolve a hardware
software conflict.
First off, you must start by becoming genuinely interested
in the prospect's business and his current needs, not simply the type of
hardware he has. The parts of his computer system are important, but you
must first show the emotion of genuine interest to be able to proceed to
the sale.
Ask Questions
Don't hesitate to ask questions. By asking several
questions, you can easily learn the prospect's fears, and hesitations
about his current situation. This places you up in a perfect position to
be allowed to hit his emotional hot buttons with the solution you
provide.
You are accustomed to quickly using logical analysis to
fix hardware, do the same to find the emotional trigger of your prospect.
Next, incorporate the emotional trigger into your
explanation of the solutions you will provide as their computer hardware
consultant.
Be sure to incorporate this in a manner that establishes a
unique selling proposition for your services as a computer hardware
consultant. Quickly, what sets you apart from others as a computer
hardware consultant?
